Northern Kentucky Builder Tom Herbstreit Retires After 43 Years

Congratulations to Northern Kentucky Builder Tom Herbstreit, who is celebrating retirement after working at Drees for more than four decades!

Tom has worked in various industry roles over the years, including as a laborer and a framing crew leader.

Reflecting on his time with Drees, Tom says the most rewarding part of the job has been helping families build their dream home.

“When I think of the number of homes that I built over my career, I get a great deal of satisfaction. All these homes for these families will be there long after I am gone,” Tom shared. Through the years, his dedication has earned him noteworthy accolades, including Builder of the Year and the Drees Community Service Award.

Tom said his favorite Drees memory is all of the people he has met while working with the company. He said the relationships he’s built with his co-workers is what he will miss the most.

Tom plans to spend his retirement doing what he loves—hunting, fishing, camping, traveling and making memories with his six grandchildren.

Midwest Construction Coordinator David Thornburn shared, “When it comes to finishing a home, no other Drees builder has been as consistent in having his homes ready and more complete than Tommy. Over the years, he has served as an excellent teacher for anyone who had the privilege of working with him.” David added, “I have been blessed with the opportunity to get to know him personally and professionally. I will miss him and wish him all the best in his next chapter.”

Congratulations on your retirement, Tom, and thank you for your many years of service!
